About Bob Wine

Bob started photographing with a Brownie and black and white film.  He processed the film in a closet. When color film became available, he switched to slides.  He enjoyed working in color and accumulated many slides.  He has been concentrating on photography since he retired.  Currently, he is very interested in various types of photography as he calls eclectic.

Bob takes all kinds of pictures including scenery, wildlife, sports and abstracts. He also is a member of several meet-up groups, photography clubs and lectures including the B&H Event Space.

 

He did product, meetings and medical photography for various clients.

Before he began to focus on photography, Bob traveled to Scandinavia, Europe, Greece, Mexico, Colombai,  Iran, Japan and Israel, French Polynesia, Big Bend National Park led by the well know nature photographer
David Muench and many National parks from Salt Lake City to Las Vegas.

Another of Bob's hobby is playing the Shakuhachi flute, a traditional Japanese bamboo flute.  This instrument is suitable for playing many types of music including jazz, classical music and folk tunes as well as for Zen Buddhist meditation. Bob performed the Shakuhachi in Japan, the Cherry Blossom Festival at the Brooklyn Botanic Gardens and others locations.

Bob was born in Brooklyn, but he grew up in the Bronx and earned a B.S. degree in Mathematics at City College. After that he studied graduate Mathematics and taught at Indiana University. He was Chief Statistician for a division of the American Public Health Association. Bob worked in the computer industry for 50+ years  including Ticketron, Off track Betting, the Jersey lottery systems.  He also ran support groups for neuromuscular diseases at NYU Medical Center. For the Association for Computer Machinery (ACM) he also lectured at universities across the U.S.
